Here are those fic recs I promised you @incesthemes ! I hope there's some in there that you'll really enjoy <3 I split up the recs into overarching tropes to group some together, but I'll start with those that don't fit into any of the groups.

The list got a bit long, so I decided to split it up into two parts.

Meanwhile, Dean is at his wits' end trying to figure out how he can make Sam realize that he is, in fact, trying to get into his pants.

This is a series spanning a whopping 169 fics. I've read only a few of them and I enjoyed Sam and Dean retiring in this town together. It's still updating, looks like, since the latest fic added was in May of this year.

A Stain that Won't Dissolve - Over halfway (in what I'm writing, I'm up to chapter 29)

The Nascent Diplomat - Probably over 3/4 (fourth and final part to come after)

Constellations - Early days re: 4 chapters being done, but it also isn't planned to be super long. Maybe around 12-17 chapters.

Smoke in Autumn - Believe it or not, probably not even a quarter of the way through. It's one of the reasons this one's taking so long, because when I dive in I want to really dive in.

It’s a cool, quiet evening and Janis doesn’t quite know where she’s going. She’s on a quiet path, far enough away from home to where she probably wouldn’t know the way back, which would be worrying if it weren’t for the fact that she wouldn’t mind getting lost for a bit. It would take her mind somewhere more productive, like asking where she’s at, instead of wherever it is now.

There’s a bridge in the near distance, and Janis spots something painfully familiar.

What Janis sees is a streak of platinum blonde.

It’s a stark contrast to the lifeless gray of the cement, and Janis wonders, with a nasty curl of her lip, why she’s sitting somewhere as ‘peasantish’ as the side of a bridge. Kicking her feet and throwing pebbles into the current of the river below, at that. She has everything in her to just walk past and leave her be and not get herself into more trouble than she’s been in. She knows best, Regina George is not a good companion when she’s upset.

But instead she stops. Shoves her hands in her pockets to seem cool, when in reality her hands are getting sweaty being around Regina. She has the audacity to be nervous.

Janis chews her cheeks when Regina looks at her. Piercing blue against deep brown. It makes her feel small. That makes her feel angry.

“What the hell do you want?” Regina says. “Haven’t you ruined my life enough?”

“Haha. So funny, Gigi.”

Regina wrinkles her nose. “Ew, since when did you start calling me that?” 

“Well, since when did you start calling me ‘space dyke?’”

Regina doesn’t respond to that. “Exactly,” Janis says, and it feels like she’s won that one. Regina George zero, Janis one. “We both have changed a lot since five years ago, haven’t we?”

“…Yeah. We have.”

Janis sits. Regina doesn’t push her away.

Regina starts hesitantly, “Um.”

“That’s all? Um?”

“No, you prick. Take a rock.” Regina puts the surprisingly numerous pile of rocks over where they can both reach. Janis looks at her, perplexed. “Try it. It’s very… calming.”

“I know what throwing rocks into water feels like, dumbass.” Janis snarks, “Unlike you, I don’t worry about getting dust on my pretty pink high heels and don’t go outside.” It may have been true, but the subtle look of hurt on Regina’s face still makes Janis feel remorseful. She sighs and throws a rock. “I’m sorry. That was a bit of a low blow.”

“Yeah, kind of. But it’s true.” Regina holds a rock in her hands. It’s colored like clay. “I’m sorry too. For uh, everything.”

Janis doesn’t respond—maybe she’ll be able to someday. Instead, she takes sudden note of Regina’s lack of a back brace. “You graduated the back brace a bit quick, huh?”

“I got out on good behavior.”

“That’s a shocker.”

Regina pushes her shoulder. She’s messing around. Except she’s dead serious when she says, “Well, doing nothing but laying on a fucking couch for about a week and then not being able to do much else gives a girl some time to think. That, and losing old friends. Getting new ones.”

“I bet it does.” Janis pauses. “Heard you’re playing lacrosse now.”

“Yeah.”

“How’s the team?”

“Very… tight-knit,” Regina tells her. “I felt like I was intruding at first. It was kind of awkward too, considering… you know.” She motions to herself. Then, she throws another rock into the water. “But it’s pretty cool now.”

“Cool. Maybe… maybe I’ll watch you guys play sometime.” She feels Regina’s smile on her. It feels warm. “Had no fucking clue we even did lacrosse, though.”

“Me neither.”

They laugh, really laugh, and after so long it really feels good.

SCOTUS is hearing on the constitutionality of the ban as tiktok and creators are arguing that it is a violation of our first amendment rights to free speech, freedom of the press and freedom to assemble.

Tiktok lawyers: if china is such a concern why are you singling us out? Why not SHEIN or temu which collect far more information and are less transparent with their users?

Tiktok as a community has chosen to collectively migrate TO a chinese owned app that is purely in Chinese out of utter spite and contempt for meta/x and the gov that is backing them.

My fyp is a mix of “i would rather mail memes to my friends than ever return to instagram reels” and “i will xerox my data to xi jinping myself i do not care i share my ss# with 5 other people anyway” and “im just getting ready for my day with my chinese made coffee maker and my Chinese made blowdryer and my chinese made clothing and listening to a podcast on my chinese made phone and get in my car running on chinese manufactured microchips but logging into a chinese social media? Too much for our gov!” etc.

So the government was scared that tiktok was creating a sense of class consciousness and tried to kill it but by doing so they sent us all to xiaohongshu. And now? Oh it’s adorable seeing this gov-manufactured divide be crossed in such a way.
